ATC flight Lubeck - Frankfurt/Main
====================================
Introduction:
==============
lubffm.atc and lubffm.pnt contains the program and points for an atc
controlled flight from Lubeck to Frankfurt/Main.
It tries to follow correct ATC procedures, but I probably have misunderstood
several things, so it might not be fully correct. Feel free to tell me about
any problems with the flight!
It's a bit more talkative than real ATC though.
Requirements:
==============
You need the following to fly this ATC flight:
FS5.1:
I've only tested it with FS5.1, but it'll probably work with FS5.0 too.
Europe I:
I've created this using BAO's Europe 1 scenery, so I know that it works
with this scenery.
It might work with some of the free scenery found on Compuserve and
ftp.iup.edu. Look for scenery covering Germany.
ATCCOM:
My ATC communication simulator. The requirements for this simulator
is given in ATCCOM.TXT.
LUBFFM.ATC & LUBFFM.PNT:
The ATC program and point file describing this flight.
You:
You must know how to use VOR's and ILS'es to fly this ATC flight.
Maps and approach charts would be nice to have, but isn't a must,
as I've included the necessary details below.
Setup:
=======
Setup ATCCOM as described in ATCCOM.TXT.
FS5 must be set up for a dualplayer connection as described in ATCCOM.TXT
Starting ATCOM and FS5:
========================
Start ATCCOM from within windows; when the ATCCOM window appear, open
lubffw.atc; then select Start from the Action menu.
Start FS5.
Enter the Entertainment/Dual-player screen, and click on "Direct Connect".
You'll return to cockpit window, and after a short time, the message
"Connected" should appear in the white window on your screen.
Use the mouse to pull the white window to the top of the screen.
You'll be informed that to start, you must move the aircraft to Lubeck
(in Germany).
Do this by selecting Lubeck from the airport list in FS5.1.
The adventure is designed for the Lear, so select the Lear from the
aircraft window.
Place the aircraft somewhere in the parking area at Lubeck airport, and
you'll be ready to run the adventure.
Talking with ATC:
==================
While all this is happening, ATC should be busy telling you to:
Contact clearance delivery on 122.5 *
Note the star (*) after the message, it indicate that you should acknow-
ledge that you have received it. Do this by typing:
0 <enter>
(<enter> is the return key on your main keyboard, NOT the keypad)
This acknowledges the message, and ATC should stop bothering you.
If you don't acknowledge the message, ATC will repeat the message after
a short while.
Now you should tune to clearance delivery. Do this by dialling the fre-
quency on your COM radio, and then type the following:
0 r <enter>
This is the command to contact a new frequency, and is generally used to
report in when necessary.
(Btw. ATCCOM doesn't check for the correct radio frequency, so it isn't
really necessary to dial the frequency first; just typing 0 r <enter>
is enough. However, to make things a bit more realistic, dial in on
your com radio.
After reporting in on the new frequency, you should get this message
(sent one line at a time) :
Good afternoon Flight 18,
Cleared to Frankfurt as filed,
Expect FL 220 10 minutes after departure,
Sqawk 1234 *
This is your clearance. Note the star after the last line, this indicate
that you have to acknowledge the message, so do this by typing
0 <enter>
Side note: I have a Thrustmaster FLCS/WCS-II, and have programmed the
above commands into some of the buttons in the WCS. It make
it a bit easier to talk with ATC. You might want to do the
same if you have a FLCS or WCS-II.
If you forgot the last message from ATC, you can request a repeat.
This is done by typing:
0 q <enter>
ATC will then repeat the last message. You'll have to acknowledge it
again!
If you forgot what you're supposted to do, you can request a status.
This is done by typing:
0 s <enter>
ATC will then tell you what you're expected to do.
You'll have to acknowledge it!
Now you most all the things you can send to ATC, lets recap:
0 <enter> : Acknowlede a message.
0 r <enter> : Report (Used when contacting a new frequency).
0 q <enter> : Request repeat of last message.
0 s <enter> : Request current status.
There's a few more commands, look them up in ATCCOM.TXT.
The takeoff:
=============
After acknowleding the clearance, you'll be told to contact Lubeck Tower
to get taxi instructions. Do this by dialling the frequency on the com
radio (118.6); then report in.
You'll get taxi instructions, and will be told to report short of the
runway. Taxi to just before the runway, and report in again.
Tower will then clear you for takeoff, so do that, and follow all the
instructions you receive.
Each controller will inform you when to change to another frequency, and
will also give you this frequency.
The flight:
============
The clearance you'll receive contains the word "cleared as filed".
This indicate that you should fly the route you filed earlier.
The filed route is as follows:
Lubeck VOR (LUD)
Hamburg VOR (HAM)
Elbe VOR (LBE)
Nienburg VOR (NIE)
Robeg FIX
Warburg VOR (WRB)
Ohmar FIX
Giessen NDB (GIN)
Metro VOR (MTR)
Taunus VOR (TAU)

Here's a list of nav the nav points used in the flight.
Radials and distances are shown when relevant:

Conclusion:
============
Well, that's all. I hope you'll enjoy the flight. Please remember that this
is version 0.1 of the program, and that it may (and probably will) contain
a few bugs.
Feel free to contact me with suggestions for enhancements, bug reports or
requests for help.
